Update

Cutest baby butt ever.

The little guy is doing great. His 2 month check-up is tomorrow. I expect he will get a clean bill of health from the doctor. We are going to a new doctor because our original pediatrician's office basically blew me off when I went there with some concerns. I realize I am a first-time mom, but I am not crazy and I do know enough about what I'm doing that I don't need some pompous doctor being patronizing to me. So, that said, we are going to my family care doctor, the one who I've seen for, like, 20 years. Yay! He can never retire. Never!

I gave Dorian a bath tonight and, as I lotioned him up post-bath, I kept inhaling his lovely baby scent. That scent is like a drug. Seriously.

We're getting lots of smiles from him these days. Real smiles too, not gas smiles. He likes to watch Baby Einstein DVD's and if you read him a book, he will look at the pages as though they really do fascinate him.

He's also getting greater hand control, at least according to Trevor, who just told me Dorian is now intentionally pinching his nipples.

Maybe I've said this already, but it's worth repeating. I have the best, sweetest, cutest baby ever!

Dorian at 2 Months

It's hard to believe that Dorian is 2 months old today!

At 2 months, he is the happiest baby! The only time he fusses is when he's hungry and then he's so funny - he gets frantic to be fed! He often tries to chomp on Trevor while he's waiting for me to get comfortable and get my nursing pillow all arranged.

He is so much more alert now! He loves to look at things - especially light fixtures. He's also smiling more now. When I shake his rattle at him or put him down on his play mats, he smiles at the music and the noises. The most lovely thing though is when he smiles at me. We sing silly songs, or I'll stick my tongue out at him and he'll grin. Sometimes in the morning, after I nurse him, I'll pull my knees up and lay him on them so we can look at each other. His eyes get big and he studies my face and opens his eyes wide as if to say, "hey, I know you! You're my momma!" Then he smiles and I just melt.

He loves his swing. Although it usually puts him to sleep, he spends more time in it now watching the little bugs and leaves rotate around and looking at himself in the mirror above his head.

He's getting so big! Dorian's outgrown Newborn and size 1 diapers, and is now on size 2! He's about 14 pounds and such an adorable chunk!
